Captivated

Throughout the years I have been to many concerts, but only a handful have left a lasting impression. Enthralling musical experiences leave an irremovable mark on your heart and soul. Effectively stirring my heart and mind, some of my favorite live performances has come from the likes of Walk the Moon, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, Thirty Seconds to Mars, New Politics, 21 Pilots, and Jonathan Tyler and the Northern Lights. The reasoning behind my selections is due to their ability to interact with the fans, their energy and the emotional delivery of their musical presence. Aside from the performer, the venue is a huge factor in a fan’s experience. I find that the smaller, more intimate venues are the perfect foundation for a more connected fan to artist experience, with minimal obstruction between you and the musician(s). Most venues of the smaller variety also facilitate the opportunity for fan/artist interaction. My favorite venue to date is the Culture Room in Fort Lauderdale, where I have had the fortune to personally meet and connect with some of my now favorite artists. Welcome to Symphonic Infatuation

Music is everywhere, constantly in the forefront or the backdrop of our daily lives. It evokes emotion, harnessing the ability to transform our mood. Music sets the premise of a scene in a movie, discreetly informing us of how we should feel in the moment. It is the melodic air in the background to fill the silent pauses in our lives. It is our history and our culture. We link music to specific memories; we assign a song to signify our relationships or to create ambiance; music is definitively the soundtrack of our lives. Whether we acknowledge it’s presence or not, music engrosses our world.

I have an irrevocable love for music. It plays such an imperative role in my life; as I hope it does for most. It’s cathartic, providing me with a melodic escape anytime of the day. With an insatiable appetite, I seek different outlets, which leads me to the subject of live music. The music pulses through you, becoming palpable. I can’t help but to impulsively move to the rhythm, getting lost in the beautiful, symphonic serenity, temporarily escaping reality. There is nothing comparable to the intimate experience of witnessing an artist in a vulnerable state, generously exposing their raw talent and passion for our consumption. One of the rare times I’m left reeling, this is the moment I truly develop a deep appreciation for their craft.
